*New Brandon Carter video – “Blood Money”*

Awww Man!! I should have told you that the Homie Brandon Carter was about to release a classic album earlier this year, but I was waiting for the perfect time. And I couldn’t think of any perfecter way to set off the month of September than with the lead off video from Carter’s They’re Trying To Kill You album, which will be dropping on his birthday, September 15th!!

I gave you guys the audio to this song a few months back in preparation, but Brandon’s added a few things to that original version and put together a super memorable and thought provoking clip to set the tone for what you can expect off of this album.

This is the first of the albums in a birthday series with his dropping during Virgo season, and the first of my 2 debut LPs dropping on my Birthday(it was my idea first – but no shots, no shots)in October (Libras all day!!). Oh by, the way, that album will be produced entirely by Brandon. Get ready… For now, chew on this

New Chris Classic x Brandon Carter visuals + Chris Classic Mixtape!!

Young Carter hit me with these clips in an e-mail about a week ago in support of the 3rd installment of the homie Chris Classic‘s mixtape series Summer Classic.

This first one is footage of the 2 recording one of the tracks on the mixtape  in quite frankly, one of the swankiest studios I’ve ever seen an unsigned artist work out of. Nevermind the fact that it all looks like one big Coca Cola endorsement, pay attention to the process…

The second video is a commercial for the mixtape itself, featuring the wild homie Chicago Gee. It’s a take off of an original song by Brandon that he performed acoustic guitar at a show last year, only to have punk-ass Amanda Diva try to play him on stage. The most IMPORTANT thing in this commercial however, is the fact that Chris is changing the game by dropping his mixtape in true technologically advanced fashion, by making it directly uploadable to your smartphone, for free. DOPENESS

We’re probably all gonna be doing this soon…

New music videos by Sol-Leks & J.Craft

Summer’s in the air. And it’s a great time for some good ol’ NYC rap.

This time I’m bringing you some visuals from 2 of Manhattan’s Uptown elite. The first being a rarity from the leader of my Balance crew, and one of my favorite rappers that I know (if not my favorite) – Sol-Leks. The kid has been on a wild hungry streak, doing back to back shows and throwing this video together in the span of 2 days. I’ll admit, I wasn’t a fan of this song until seeing the video. I get his vision now. It feels like a movement. He sampled it from a track on Kanye’s last album and chose it to be the lead of for what I hope means the arrival of Sol-Leks album. That would be something. For now, enjoy. And shout out to fellow Balance Crew member, 16’s Candles contributor and all around visionary, Who Is Number 5? for the camera work and editing. Nice assist by Rayniel as well.

Speaking of Rayniel, who you may have seen me mention on this blog a couple times, the second video is by his team, the FM crew featuring the homie J. Craft on a solo mission. (Don’t it feel so 90’s? Peep the laid back flow and the brown bag on the car hood posturing) Rayniel also handled a majority of the filming and editing on this one. This is Inwood/Wash Heights Hip-Hop in it’s purest form. Manhattan keeps on making it!

New Brandon Carter Single – “BLOOD MONEY”

Today my boy Brandon Carter is dropping the first single off of his new politically charged album They’re Trying To Kill You. It’s a change of pace for Carter, who’s tackling a before unseen side of his artistic output.

Click the pic below to listen to and download the song.

Now usually this kind of thing is reserved for lyrics from my own catalogue in my Hot 16…Or More…Segment, but Brandon wants to make this project as informative and inclusive as possible, so he’s sharing the lyrics to the songs on the album in as many ways as possible. Read along here;

“Blood Money”

Artist: Brandon Carter

Producer: Brandon Carter

Album: They’re Trying To Kill You

Verse #1

Corporations want to get paid and they dont care who bleeds

Thats why my sneakers are made by children over seas

And their hourly wage is not enough to eat,

but companies get away because no one oversees.

man It’s about the G’s, better get em

Because I’ve seen the poor get ignored by the system.

But in reality I see the poor are the Victims

of this cannibal animal called capitalism.

Wheres the lack of division between the haves and the have-nots?

Chance to advance but they plan so you can not.

Get the jail route if you caught  with that crack rock

get a bail out…. If your crimes are from bad stocks.

Cant stop trying to find answers

how can they deny coverage when they find cancer.

Tax breaks for the rich while the poor trying to by Pampers.

You cant prepare for the life after with your Blood Money.

Choirs

Wall Street ruins lives for that Blood Money

In Iraq shoulders dying for that Blood Money

Politicians committing crimes for that Blood Money

Fox News telling lies for that Blood Money

We ignoring human rights for that Blood Money

The environment sacrificed for that Blood Money

We all going to pay the price for that Blood Money

Thats what they want from me

Verse #2

The Planet gets warmer cuz you filling up your Humvee

the cash from countries were kids going hungry.

Drug war in Mexico is getting kind of ugly

and we support it every time we buy a bag and puff trees.

You must see the terrorist that want to bomb you

get there money off the drugs you put in your nostrils.

And I support that Julian Assange dude

he showed us who we killing when we bring them bombs through!

Do what I’ve got to, I’m just tryna survive shopping that gross product from off of I-95

Because thats how we was brought up, how we was taught to survive

knowing we going to get caught up and locked up for our crimes

i’m from where the greed breed hopelessness

Politicians on the TV they dont think we notice it.

Give me a week of them Wall Street bounces

I’ll take it to the streets and feed homeless kids off of this BLOOD MONEY

Repeat Chorus

* New Cesar Luciano “THE GREAT DEPRESSION” LP* (Download)

You might remember a second ago, I introduced you to a young artist by the name of Cesar Luciano who’s apart of my GemStars crew. He’s the flagship artist and he reps Providence, Rhode Island. Get familiar with the name cause he may very well be the face of that city and the one to put that whole state on the rap map. Not an easy feat. But the boy is poised to do it. Multi-talented and hungry as fuck, I put you on to his Black Thursday mixtape as a prerequisite, and tho I’m a little late getting this to you, now it’s time for the project that he’s been putting the finishing touches on all year.

Ladies and Gents I give you

New Cesar Luciano Mixtape – “BLACK THURSDAY”

Ok, so it’s not quite the 22nd, and this is not quite the debut street album that I said would be dropping when I first introduced you all to the new break-out artist Cesar Luciano, but all good things take time. And because Ceez knows this, he thought it’d be nice to give you something to hold you over and let you know how serious things are. This mixtape was done in a week and gives you a better idea of who the kid is. For alot of you, this will be your first time hearing him. And quite naturally, before The Great Depression, there’s Black Thursday….

Oh, guess I should mention that I’m on it by the way

Here’s the video to my favorite track off the project

An artist you need to know; CESAR LUCIANO

New ESSO Project – “Y & I Life” Free Download

Also happening in Hip-Hop to kick March off is the new project from the homey Esso. I just had a long talk with him about the business and the need to keep producing quality product, so it only seems right that this is how spring will segue in.

Bringing artistry to Harlem, the kid does my hometown justice while reppin’ the label and campaign that he’s been claiming for a while now.

And peep the trailer for it,

and the video for the lead single “Big Bed”. Tell me shorty doesn’t look like a mix of Kyla Pratt and Nina B.!!! Or is that…

16’s Candles Presents; The Have-Knotz “Blue Valentine – The Aaliyah Mixtape”

Click the pic to download. Do you Feel the Love???

5 Days until we drop that New Aaliyah-inspired mixtape for V-Day!!

I’ve made you wait long enough.

It’s been a minute since I released any new “rappity rap” as my homegirl TDJ would say. I agree. Approximately, 4 months and counting.

And counting is exactly what we’re doing. All month long I’ve been counting down via your favorite social networking sites, the days before the release of Blue Valentine – The Aaliyah Mixtape. This time around, I’m bringing in the fellow members of my group, The Have-Knotz; Komp’L & Bobby. If you remember from my last tape, the 2 were featured heavily, so naturally this is a full effort from us as a group in preparation for our original music debut, coming this summer.

Inspired by the title of the Oscar-Buzz-worthy movie that just came out this winter, this project is a loosely conceptual one, surrounding the good bad and ugly of male-female relationships. And we figured that there’s not a more appropriate backdrop for these themes than the emotion-invoking sounds from the late Aaliyah‘s catalogue.

Not too many groups out there are getting topical, so we came to fill in the void. Plus, V-Day is one of the few holidays that I actually acknowledge. The timing is impeccable!

Speaking of timing, see us here in 5 days when the project drops and download it for free. Consider it a gift.

Now Blow!
