Happy New Year! – Final Kwanzaa Principle of the day – IMANI

This is it people!!

Not just a cute name for little black girls, but the strongest Principle of  all of the 7.

Without this, we are nothing.  One of my favorite quotes begins “Faith is what you make it…”.

Truer words have never been spoken.

Imani (Faith)
To believe with all our heart in our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders and the righteousness and victory of our struggle.

With that, I thank you for taking this journey with me and I hope I have encouraged at least one person to take these principles to heart or even look into the Holiday and Kwanzaa celebration a little deeper.

Happy New Year!!

Kwanzaa Principle Of The Day – KUUMBA

A little late Kiddies, but today’s principle is another favorite, and usually the most festive and celebratory day of the whole Kwanzaa Holiday. Not to mention it’s also New Year’s Eve.

With that, I give you KUUMBA

Kuumba (Creativity)
To do always as much as we can, in the way we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.

Enjoy. And as Mike told me earlier today, “Be Creative”.

Kwanzaa Principle Of The Day – NIA

The Principle for today is NIA

Nia (Purpose)

To make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness.

We all have to find our personal definition of purpose in this life. As you go thru your day, try to remind yourself of yours. Word, that’s enough of me droppin’ science this morning.

Kwanzaa Principle Of The Day – UJAMAA

Today’s Principle is an especially dope one, UJAMAA

Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics)
To build and maintain our own stores, shops and other businesses and to profit from them together.

And with that, I’m off to support some Local Black business in the wonderful world of Harlem!

Kwanzaa Principle Of The Day – UJIMA

Today’s principle is UJIMA

Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility)
To build and maintain our community together and make our brother’s and sister’s problems our problems and to solve them together.

Kwanzaa Principle Of The Day – UMOJA

Ok Kiddies,

Today’s Principle is UMOJA

Umoja (Unity)
To strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation and race.
